Wendy Williams ‘Much Better' After Halloween Costume Causes Her to Faint During Live Broadcast

She was dressed as Lady Liberty when the incident occurred.

Wendy Williams was doing a special Halloween episode of her daytime talk show Tuesday when she passed out during the live broadcast.

With about 10 minutes before her show ended, Williams, 53, who was dressed as the Statue of Liberty, took a spill as cameras were rolling, causing the audience to gasp. Viewers believed the tumble was a Halloween trick.

A stagehand rushed to help her as the show went to black. When she got back from commercial break, she explained that it wasn’t a stunt and she had just passed out.

“That was not a stunt. I’m overheated in my costume and I did pass out. But you know what, I’m a champ, and I’m back!” she said as the audience cheered her on.

Although she said she was fine, paramedics were called, just in case.

Following the show, she issued a statement on Twitter which explained she was “overheated because of her heavy costume, makeup and lights.”
