According to published reports, former Republican Senator Ted Stevens, 86, was killed in a plane crash in southwest Alaska on August 9th.
Also on board was ex-NASA chief Sean O'Keefe. O'Keefe reportedly survived the crash.
The National Transportation Safety Board said in a statement that five of the nine people were killed.
