Amazing Lost Video of David Letterman on The Starland Vocal Band's 1977 TV Show Surfaces
Lost footage of David Letterman starring on 'The Starland Vocal Band Show' in 1977 has surfaced, in all its quirky glory.
Video from the summer of 1977 has just been unearthed and featured David Letterman was one of the sketch comedy players on a short-lived CBS variety show starring The Starland Vocal Band.
Their hit "Afternoon Delight" got them a seven-week series and Letterman played a letter carrier. Get it? Letterman played a mailman. He read letters to the band.
It was one of his first jobs in Hollywood after spending four years on the air in Indianapolis as a weather man.
His style then was described as quirky and irreverent. Maybe not the best thing for a weatherman but perfect for a future late night host.
