The 61-year-old's body was found 1.7 miles from the base of a hiking trail near Taos. Scheib was the White House executive chef from 1994 to 2005 under Presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush.
According to the Washington Post, he was out on a four-mile hike on June 13 and wasn’t heard from since. Authorities found his car near the trailhead, and his body was discovered two miles from the Yerba Canyon Trail head.

He had taught a teenage Chelsea Clinton how to cook, according to the book, “The Residence: Inside the Private World of the White House.” After he left the White House, he launched a private chef business.
