An eight-year-old boy with cerebral palsy has shown incredible determination by finishing his first ever triathlon.

Hundreds of people cheered for Bailey Matthews as he completed a 100m lake swim, a 4,000m bike and a 1,300m run at the Castle Triathlon in Yorkshire, England on Sunday.

His uncle, Andrew Cannon, was on hand to film the astonishing moment he crossed the finish line.

The video shows him ditching his walker to reach the finish line – and even though he stumbles twice, he crosses it on his own.

As he makes it, the crowd goes wild.

“You can see his little face when he came round and saw everyone, that was his way of finishing in style and showing everyone what he could do,” his mom Julie told the Yorkshire Post.

“It was the response from the crowd that pushed him to do that.”

Bailey, who is from Doncaster, South Yorkshire, was born nine weeks early and was diagnosed with cerebral palsy - which affects muscle tone and movement - when he was 18 months old.
