Robbie Maddison defied reality when he rode his bike across a wave in Tahiti – and now the motocross star is showing us how he did it.

His dirt bike was outfitted with specially-built rubber skis that were attached to the wheels.

The bike was also propelled by a rear paddle tire. With the right amount of speed, the bike was able to remain on the surface of the water.
Despite the preparation, Maddison, who was a stunt double for Daniel Craig in the James Bond movie Skyfall, said that he was lucky to escape alive.
“I honestly thought that it might be the end of my life,” he said. “I've never felt like I was in the wrong place at the wrong time more than I did right there.”

He said he almost drowned when he was knocked off the bike and was swallowed up by a monster wave.
“It took me down and I was struggling,” he told an Australian station after the stunt. “I was lucky to get out of this.”
