Former Subway spokesman Jared Fogle will plead guilty to engaging in sex acts with minors and receiving child pornography, federal prosecutors have said.
Former Subway spokesman Jared Fogle has agreed to plead guilty to charges of child pornography and traveling for illicit paid sex with minors, according to federal prosecutors.
The 37-year-old married father appeared in court in Indianapolis on charges on Wednesday: one count of traveling to engage in illicit sexual conduct with a minor and one count of distribution and receipt of child pornography.
He victimized 12 minors in Indiana and two in New York during a "five-year criminal scheme to exploit children," U.S. Attorney Josh Minkler said at a press conference on Wednesday.
He added that Fogle had explicit images of children as young as six.
"This is about using wealth, status and secrecy to illegally exploit children," Minkler said.

Fogle is expected to plead guilty at a later date, but a not guilty plea was entered on his behalf in court on Wednesday. He was released and must wear an electronic monitoring device pending his next court appearance.
Under the plea deal, Fogle would serve between five and 12 years behind bars and pay $1.4 million in restitution to 14 minor victims, register as a sex offender and undergo treatment for sexual disorders.
In 2012 and 2013, Fogle traveled from Indiana to New York City, where he paid a 17-year-old girl to engage in sex acts as he stayed at expensive hotels, according to court documents.
The girl says she was paid for sex on at least three occasions when she was 16, prosecutors added.
As well as allegedly paying for sex acts with minors, Fogle also received child pornography, according to the court documents.
Fogle's wife, Katie Fogle, said she is now seeking a divorce.
She released a statement through her attorney saying she was "extremely shocked and disappointed" by the allegations.
"I am in the process of seeking a dissolution of the marriage. My focus is exclusively on the well-being of my children," she said.
The charges come after federal agents searched Fogle's home in early July and seized electronic equipment.
Fogle became the face of the sandwich chain for more than 15 years after dropping more than 200 pounds by eating Subway's food.
But in light of the accusations, Subway said it has ended its relationship with Fogle.
"We no longer have a relationship with Jared and have no further comment," the company said in a message to its social media pages on Tuesday.
Fogle attorney Ron Elberger says he has no comment "at this time."
