Ex-NFL Cheerleader Collapses as She is Sentenced For Having Sex With Son's 15-Year-Old Friend
Ex-NFL cheerleader Molly Shattuck was spared prison on Friday, two months after pleading guilty to fourth-degree rape.
Ex-NFL cheerleader Molly Shattuck collapsed in court on Friday as she was sentenced for raping a 15-year-old boy at her vacation rental home.
The 48-year-old divorced mom, who pleaded guilty to fourth-degree rape in June, was given two years of probation. She must now report to a probation center every weekend and register as a sex offender.
She collapsed to her knees in the Delaware courtroom as she heared her sentence and wept as she apologized.
"I take full responsibility for what I did. I never, ever, ever intended, obviously, to hurt anybody," she said. "I will spend the rest of my life making this right."
Shattuck, a former cheerleader for the Baltimore Ravens, was accused of having sex with the teenager, who shared classes with her son at school in Owings Mills, Maryland.
According to court documents, Shattuck first started speaking to the boy through Instagram.
Her son then allegedly sent his mom's phone number to his friend, saying: "You should text my mom, she is obsessed with you."
The teenager told police they started an inappropriate relationship and eventually had sex in a rental home over Labor Day weekend last year.
She was also accused of giving alcohol to three boys under the legal drinking age.
The parents of the teenager, whose identity INSIDE EDITION is protecting, say Shattuck took their son's innocence and urged the judge to send her to prison.
"At the end of the day, there's nothing that we can do to take this pain away from him," the teen's father said.
Shattuck joined the Ravens cheerleaders in 2005, when she was 38. She cheered for two years and was a part-time coach for more than six.
She was previously married to Mayo Shattuck, former CEO of Baltimore-based Constellation Energy Nuclear Group and current chairman of Chicago-based Exelon Corp. They divorced last November.
The couple has three children, aged eight, 11 and 15.
