Drone Crashes into Stands at U.S. Open, Tennis Player Thought It Was a Bomb
A drone interrupted play the U.S. Open when it crashed into the stands, scaring the players on the court.
A drone crash-landed into the stands at the U.S. Open in Queens, New York on Thursday night - leading one of the players on the court to think it was a bomb.

The craft smashed into a section of empty seats and broke into pieces as it hit the concrete while Italy's Flavia Pennetta played Romania's Monica Niculescu.
Pennetta said after the match: "I'm imagining, OK, it's a bomb."
She added: “I want the security to take a look at what it was."
Cops say the drone was traced back to a school teacher, 26-year-old Daniel Verley.
He allegedly operated the drone from a park near the stadium when he lost control. Verley, who teaches at The Academy of Innovative Technology in Brooklyn, was charged with reckless endangerment.

"No spectators were in the immediate area of the crash and there were no injuries," the United States Tennis Association said in a statement. "The NYPD responded and is conducting an ongoing investigation."
