Estranged Couple Who Appeared on 'Ghost Adventures' Show Found Dead After Standoff

A man and woman found dead by police responding to a hostage situation at a Nevada apartment were identified as Mark and Debby Constantino.

A man and woman found dead by police responding to a hostage situation were an estranged husband and wife known for their work as ghost hunters on the TV show "Ghost Adventures," officials said.

After hearing gunshots and being told by a man to give him time or else he would kill the woman with him inside, officers used explosives to open the door of a barricaded Sparks, Nevada apartment and discovered the bodies of Mark and Debby Constantino, the Associated Press reported.

The couple featured as paranormal investigators on the Travel Channel series 'Ghost Hunters.' They appeared in episodes about the Mustang Ranch brothel and the Goldfield Hotel in Nevada as well as the Market Street Cinema in San Francisco.

'Ghost Hunters' host Zak Bagans took to Twitter to express his grief about the pair's death:

a very tragic dark day. RIP @TheConstantinos

Police responded earlier that day to a call of a man found dead at a home in northwest Reno and learned that the victim's roomate, Debby Constantino, was missing, Lt. William Rulla told the Reno Gazette-Journal.

Officers tracked her cellphone to the couple's adult daughter's apartment, where cops tried in vain to negotiate with the people inside.

Police have not disclosed how the Constantinos or the yet-to-be identified man were killed, but Sparks Police Lt. Rocky Triplett told the AP that Mark Constantino shot at the officers who approached the apartment door. They reportedly did not return fire.

"The subjects involved in this incident were not shot at or injured by gunfire from any law enforcement personnel," he said in an email to The AP.

Triplett confirmed that the Reno homicide and the deaths of the Constantinos were "directly related," the AP wrote.

Debby Constantino also was the victim of an earlier kidnapping and domestic incident involving Mark Constantino, Rulla told the Reno Gazette-Journal.

Washoe District Court records showed Mark Constantino was served last week with a restraining order that ordered him to not go near his estranged wife. The two were scheduled to appear in court in December regarding their pending divorce.
