A police officer was stopping for a snack at a doughnut shop when he spotted a robbery underway and helped foil the would-be thieves.
Dallas Police Officer Christopher Berry was off-duty but in full uniform when he pulled over at the Joy Donut shop at 7.30 a.m. on Thursday, according to a post on the police department's blog. Just as he was about to leave his car, he saw two men wearing black wool hoods over their faces and socks over their hands.

The men were "hiding at the edge of the building and peering into the donut shop," according to the post.
Officer Berry watched both suspects walk inside the store. Surveillance footage taken from inside shows one hooded suspect yanking the register from the counter, while the second suspect tried to steal a second register - but the shop's owner stopped him.
The officer stayed in "a tactically safe position" outside his car, police said, but when the suspects ran out he shouted: "Dallas Police! Stop!"

One suspect obeyed the command and was arrested, but the man with the cash register continued running. The cash register was later found in a nearby field but the man remains at large. He is described as a black male, 5'9" tall and weighing150 lbs.
No word on whether Officer Berry was able to buy a doughnut.
