Lamar Odom is Making 'Great Progress' As He Recovers From Coma
Former NBA star Lamar Odom is said to be making 'great progress' as he recovers from his coma.
Lamar Odom is making "great progress" after waking up from coma.
According to reports, when he first saw estranged wife Khloe Kardashian he said: "hey, baby.”
Khloe has kept a constant vigil at Lamar’s bedside as the rest of the Kardashian-Jenner clan shuttle back and forth between Los Angeles and Las Vegas. Kim, Kendall and Khloe’s best friend Malika were spotted leaving the hospital over the weekend.
Lamar’s two children, Lamar Jr. and Destiny were all-smiles as they left their father's bedside --- another good sign that the former NBA star is on the mend.
However, he's not out of the woods yet.
He continues to wear a mask to aid the flow of oxygen but he's breathing on his own. He’s reportedly attempting to communicate with words but his speech is restricted to mumbles. He is communicating with hand signals, thumbs up or thumbs down.
Lamar is "breathing on his own" but will have to learn "to walk and talk again" during months of rehabilitation.
The 35-year-old likely suffered "undetermined permanent damage to his body" after he was found unconscious in bed at the love ranch brothel outside Las Vegas, according to reports.
A source close to the Kardashian’s tells People magazine: "He still has a lot of problems with his internal organs. His kidneys are a big worry. He has done a lot of damage to his body. He will probably never be back to where he was before. Damage has been done."
Khloe is hoping to move Lamar to a hospital in Los Angeles to be closer to family and friends who have been rallying around him.
Kim Kardashian even posted an Instagram message to Lamar as he recovers:
Meanwhile, Caitlyn Jenner was spotted leaving a movie theater in Los Angeles but stayed mum about her plans to visit her former son-in-law.
Meanwhile, Lamar’s former L.A. Laker teammate Metta World Peace had some harsh words for the Kardashian clan when he spoke to Los Angeles News Group.
The player, who grew up with Lamar in Queens, New York, said that not every one of the reality TV clan needs to be at the hospital.
“The only Kardashian that needs to be there is Khloe,” World Peace said. “Not every Kardashian needs to be around. They need to keep it simple, so Lamar’s children can see him whenever they want to see him. They’re waiting in line to see their own father.”
World Peace also lashed out at other high profile celebrities and NBA players that are going to see Lamar as his recovers.
“This is for the celebrities that are coming to see Lamar. They should know they’re taking time away from Lamar’s children,” World Peace said.
