Martin O'Malley Croons Taylor Swift's 'Bad Blood' while Strumming a Guitar on 'The View'

Democratic presidential contender Martin O'Malley used his appearance on The View this Tuesday as an opportunity to show off his pop music chops.

Democratic presidential candidate Martin O'Malley used his appearance this week on ABC's The View to show off his pop music chops to American voters.

The former Maryland governor, who's currently polling far behind opponents Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders, likely won some hearts Tuesday after strapping on his guitar and giving his decidedly folksy take on Taylor Swift hit "Bad Blood."

"Katy Perry, I'm told, is giving a benefit concert for one of my opponents," the former Baltimore mayor told the ladies of The View as he warmed up. "In response, I thought I'd offer this up."

Many fans initially believed Swift's song was a reference to a rivalry with Perry. However, the pop princess denied the rumor, telling GQ this month the song was about an ex-boyfriend.

O'Malley's daytime singalong came as the White House hopeful struggles to nab national headlines and get out of the massive shadow cast by top opponents Clinton and Bernie Sanders.

A Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll, taken following the Oct. 13 debate, showed him pulling just 1 percent of the vote, behind former Senator Jim Webb, who withdrew from the race on Tuesday.
