Cops: Missing Elderly Couple Found Strangled in Their Pickup at Truck Stop
The bodies of a missing husband and wife were discovered in their pickup at an interstate truck stop in Louisiana, police said.
The bodies of a kidnapped Louisiana couple were found in the back seat of their pickup truck after they were strangled, police say.
Relatives of Denis Duplantier, 71, and his 70-year-old wife Suzanne had asked Baton Rouge police late Sunday to carry out a welfare check on the couple, KLFY-TV reported.
Officers found the house in “disarray” and a home safe was open, authorities said. The couple and their truck were missing.
Investigators contacted ONSTAR, and the vehicle tracking service located the pickup’s signal coming from a parking lot in Hammond. Hammond Police Department officers discovered the bodies near Interstate 12.
On Wednesday morning, Baton Rouge Police Chief Carl Dabadie said in a news release that Ernesto Llerena Alonso, 42, was arrested in Hollywood, Florida, and will be extradited and booked with kidnapping and murder in their deaths.
Police said Alonso, who worked for the couple as a handyman, stole tens of thousands of dollars from a safe in their home.
