Waffle House Customer Fatally Shoots Waitress Who Told Him to Put Out Cigarette: Cops

A Mississippi man wanted to smoke in a restaurant and was willing to kill a woman who stood in his way, police say.
A Mississippi man was arrested Friday after police say he gunned down a Waffle House waitress who told him to put out his cigarette.
Police say Johnny Mount, 44, was smoking inside the Biloxi restaurant around 1 a.m. when a waitress, identified only as "Julie," told him to put it out.
Mount allegedly then walked out to his car, retrieved a handgun, then shot the 52-year-old waitress in the head.

Mount, who was once a firefighter but hasn't been affiliated with the Biloxi Fire Department since 2006, was arrested in the restaurant, reports WLOX.
Per Sgt. Donnie Dobbs:
"The suspect was arrested on the scene. When officers arrived, he was still on scene and was taken into custody," said Dobbs.

"This senseless tragedy is a shock for the Waffle House family. Julie was a friend to many as well as a valued member of the Waffle House team. She will be greatly missed. Our prayers are with her family, friends, co-workers and customers."
