Cape Cod Shellfisher Hits $10 Million Jackpot on Scratch-Off Lottery Ticket

A fisherman and champion oyster shucker from Wellfleet, Massachusetts can now add millionaire to his list of accomplishments.
A Massachusetts shellfisher has won $10 million, thanks to a scratch-off lottery ticket.
William Young, Jr., of Wellfleet, lucked out when he purchased one of the state lottery's Mega Fortune tickets at a local gas station, it was announced Friday.
Young is a self-employed shellfisher who, according to the Cape Cod Times, "is known for winning oyster shucking competitions."

Now, he can add millionaire to his list of achievements.
The Massachusetts State Lottery said in a Dec. 4 statement that Young selected the cash option and received a one-time payment of $6,500,000 before taxes.

He said he use his winnings to help his family and will invest some of the monies.
The State Lottery statement noted that three $10 million prizes and ten $1 million prizes remain in the “$10,000,000 Mega Fortune” $20 instant game.
