Americans are learning the hard way that in some cases, the hoverboard, which became the hottest Christmas gift of 2015, is living up to its dangerous reputation.

Videos of hoverboard accidents have popped up all over social media.
Even professional baseball player Dan Uggla is not immune to the hazards of the hoverboard. All seemed to be going well as he played with one with his kids, until he fell.
Carlos Curbelo, a Florida congressman, ended up in the emergency room after injuring his arm in a hoverboard accident.
Experts say that a lot of accidents are caused by people making the same critical mistakes, including not getting on and off the right way.
Tony Le, who manufactures Gli-Tek hoverhoards, showed INSIDE EDITION what many are doing wrong.
"People, when they step right on they try and go really fast. When someone steps forward [ getting off] they basically have no control and the thing flips on you," Le said.

Le, who recommended stepping off the device backwards, also said users have to calibrate a hoverboard when it is first being used.
