A Teenage Rape Victim Was Assaulted Again at Hospital Where She Was Being Treated: Cops
A teenage rape victim was assaulted again at a hospital where she was being treated for her injuries, authorities in India said.
A 15-year-old rape victim was raped again while being treated for her injuries at a hospital in India, authorities said.
The girl said she was sexually assaulted by a security guard at a hospital in the eastern Indian state of Jharkhand, which is mostly impoverished.
She had been admitted to the medical facility several days before after telling police she had been raped by a teenager in her neighborhood, Agence France-Presse reported.
"We registered a case and arrested the private security guard posted at the hospital after the girl's complaint and are now awaiting her medical report," police superintendent Chandan Jha told AFP.
The victim was sent to another hospital for treatment, the wire service reported.
Her first alleged attacker was arrested and sent to a juvenile detention facility.
Rape and assaults against females in India, including children and teenagers, has been the recent focus of increased attention and efforts to reform the country's treatment of girls and women.
