Two Children Among Six Found Stabbed to Death Inside Chicago Home: Police
Chicago police are investigating the slayings of six people, including two children, found inside home.
Six people were found bound and stabbed to death inside a South Side Chicago home, authorities said.
Police found the bodies of two men, two women and two children in a South California Avenue in Gage Park about 1 p.m. Thursday, authorities said.
The victims— originally identified as four men, a woman and one child— were discovered throughout the home in an incident interim Police Superintendent John Escalante called "contained within the residence."
They suffered blunt trauma in what investigators are considering a homicide. There were no signs of forced entry to the residence.
Police responded to the home after a co-worker of a man who lived there called 911 because they were unable to reach him for several days, police said.
"We are in shock," someone who identified themselves as a relative of one of the possible victims told the Chicago Tribune.
Neighbors and a relative told the paper a couple in their 60s lived downstairs in the home with their son, who was in his 40s. Their daughter, in her 30s, was said to live on the second floor with her two children who were believed to be about nine and the other in his teens, the Tribune wrote.
"They were a normal family. Everything was fine," Noemi Martinez, 29, told ABC News. She said her husband was a nephew and cousin of the home's residents.
Martinez said the family was originally from the Mexican state of Guanajuato and had lived in Chicago for about a decade. Martinez told ABC News the father worked at a factory in Chicago and the mother was a housewife.
"Right now, we just want to know who did this. They didn't deserve this. We don't understand what happened," she said.
