Arrest Made in Mysterious 2014 Murder of Mississippi Teen Who Was Found Burned to Death
Quinton Tellis, 27, has been indicted in the December 2014 murder of Jessica Chambers, 19, who was found burned alive in her car.
A Louisiana man has been indicted in the murder of a Mississippi teen who was found burned alive in her car in December 2014.
The mysterious death of 19-year-old Jessica Chambers appeared to confound investigators, until they say they honed in on her relationship with Quinton Tellis.
Police say Tellis, 27, was the last person to see Chambers alive before her charred but somehow still living body tumbled from her burned out Kia Rio. She was taken to an area hospital, where she died hours later.
According to investigators, Tellis and Chambers dated in the weeks leading up to her death.
According to the Clarion-Ledger, Tellis was indicted on a capital murder charge by a Panola County, Mississippi grand jury. Meanwhile, he sat in a Ouachita Parish, Louisiana on unrelated charges connected to the murder of a University of Louisiana exchange student.
Tellis was arrested in Monroe, Louisiana, where he was living with his new wife. He's been charged with crimes related to the death of Meing-Chen Hsiao, 34, a Taiwanese national.
Hsiao's body was discovered in her apartment. Police say she was stabbed to death in what appeared to be a very personal homicide.
Tellis has not been charged in Hsiao's murder. However, he has been charged with three counts in the alleged unauthorized use of her ATM card.
Police say they uncovered a quarter pound of marijuana in a bedroom at Tellis's home which they believe was packaged for distribution.
Tellis pleaded not guilty in October and is due back in court in May. He remains held on $200,000 bond.
