How 'Curly Sue' Star Overcame Addiction to Blow Judges Away During 'The Voice' Audition
As Alisan Porter's career is set to take off again, she says she is prepared for the 'seduction' of fame.
In a new clip from the upcoming season premiere of the hit NBC show, she was heard belting out the song “Blue Bayou.”
It's not the first time she has appeared on a TV talent show. She wowed the judges on Star Search back in 1987.
But the spotlight dimmed after Curly Sue, and she says she filled the void with drugs and booze. By 18, she says she was partying every day and squandered much of the money she'd earned as a child star.
"I did cocaine, I smoked pot, I drank, I took whatever pill people were taking at the time," she told INSIDE EDITION in a recent interview.
But now she is hoping for a comeback on Monday’s season premiere.
Pharrell told her: “With a voice like that, how did you ignore the signs you were supposed to be doing this all your life?”
“Honestly, I was going through a hard time in life. I actually got sober nearly eight years ago,” she said. "I fell in love and I had children and that was my goal to just be a good mom. And I really feel like the universe just had a plan for me because you guys turned for me today."
