Amber Alert Issued for Newborn Stolen From Mother at Gunpoint Inside Her Home: Cops
Taraji Kemp was taken by gunpoint from her mother by kidnappers who entered the Broward County home around 11 p.m. on Friday, police say
Police in Florida have issued an Amber alert after they say a 2-month-old baby girl was stolen from her mother during a home invasion late Friday.
Taraji Kemp was taken by gunpoint from her mother by kidnappers who entered the Broward County home around 11 p.m., police say. The unnamed mother was sleeping when the invaders first entered her home.
The Amber alert was issued after the kidnappers fled with Taraji and a subsequent search of the neighborhood using dogs failed to find her.
On Saturday, investigators named 24-year-old Stephanie Augustin as a person of interest in the case.
Augustin was last seen driving a four-door blue 2010 Nissan Altima with tinted dark windows and the license plate EHY Q79. Detectives believe she may be anywhere between Central Florida and South Florida.
SVU investigators are interviewing family members and other individuals relevant to the case as well as reviewing evidence in an effort to find the missing infant, Broward officials said in a statement.
Taraji is described is black and was last seen wearing a pink onesie. She has a birthmark on her chest. She is believed to be with two men, at least one of them black, in a dark colored Nissan sedan.
Anyone spotting the girl is asked to call Broward sheriff's detectives at 954-476-4731, 888-FL MISSING or 911.
