Stacey Dash Mocks Black History Month in Awkward Oscars Appearance

No stranger to controversy, Clueless star Stacey Dash trolled the Oscars with a surprise on-stage appearance in which she told the audience and millions of viewers worldwide, "Happy Black History Month!"

It was a part of a joke, apparently orchestrated by emcee Chris Rock, that was both a nod at the year's Oscars race controversy and Dash's vocal stance against Black History month.

After running a video that featured SNL star Leslie Jones as the bear in The Revenent and Tracy Morgan as a black The Danish Girl who enjoys eating danishes, Rock introduced the conservative black actress as "the new director of our minority outreach program."

"I cannot wait to help my people out," she said with a laugh. "Happy black history month!"

The joke landed with a thud and a lot of uncomfortable smiles.

Two of the most notable reactions came from singer The Weeknd and model Chrissy Teigen.

The Weeknd first appeared shocked at the joke. Then, with his hand over his mouth, he relented a little and laughed--one of the few audience members who appeared reluctant to let out even a chuckle.

@cjzero what weekend?

Teigen, though, was less amused. The model, who became a meme after making a very unique crying face at the 2015 Golden Globes, looked slightly horrified by the joke. This year's Chrissy face will, no doubt, take on an internet life of its own.
