Meet the Quick-Thinking Dad Who Saved Son From Flying Bat: 'He's My Superhero!'
Eight-year-old Landon Cunningham was at his first ever baseball game when the bat flew straight towards his head.
Meet the dad who saved his son from getting hit in the face by a flying baseball bat.
Shawn Cunningham and his eight-year-old son Landon were taking in a spring training match in Florida between the Pittsburg Pirates and Atlanta Braves.
It was during what was the boy's first game that a bat came flying towards him, but dad came to the rescue.
“I think he's amazing and he's a superhero,” Landon told IE.
Landon was in the stands on his cellphone sending a photo to his mom when it happened.
“It looked like it was going over our heads and then it turned towards us,” Cunningham said.
Cunningham reacted and shielded his son, letting the bat hit him in the arm in the process. It then flipped over and hit Landon on the back.
“It was scary to see how close it came to his head. I didn’t grasp it until I saw the picture,” Cunningham said.
Landon joked: “I asked my dad: ‘Does this happen in every baseball game?’”
