Crazed Hatchet-Wielding Man Shot Dead By Hero 7-11 Customer: Cops
Police in King County, Washington say a man with a hatchet entered a convenience store and attacked before a customer shot him dead.
A crazed hatchet-wielding man entered a Washington convenience store and began attacking people until a customer shot him dead, police said Sunday.
The ghastly scene began before 6 a.m. Sunday morning, when police say the unnamed man in his 40's entered a 7-11 and slashed the 58-year-old clerk's stomach without warning.
Cue an unnamed 60-year-old customer, who drew a gun and shot the attacker dead, bring his rampage to an end.
Now authorities are calling that customer a hero after reacting to the attack within seconds.
"The suspect started attacking the clerk with a hatchet and the customer pulled out a weapon and fired and killed him," Public Information Officer Sgt. Cindi West told KIRO after the King County Sheriff's Department responded to the scene.
Witnesses said the attacker never spoke a word.
"He didn't say anything. He just walked in the store, had the hatchet, and started attacking people," Sgt. West said. "We do not see any wrongdoing on the part of the customer."
West said he has a valid concealed pistol license. She said the customer told authorities he buys coffee from the convenience store almost every morning.
