Cops: Teen Attempts to Hold Up Store With Multicolored Water Gun
The suspect claimed it was a joke.
Authorities say a man tried to rob a Missouri store by using a water gun.
Amanuel Perkins, 18, is being charged with one count of attempted first-degree robbery after he allegedly held up the Sole Survivor Leather store in Maplewood.
Police say Perkins demanded money from the owner, who feared for his life before realizing he was being held up with a multicolored water gun.
The owner pushed the gun away and demanded that Perkins leave. Police arrived and later arrested the suspect.
According to police, Perkins said the incident, which happened last week, was a joke for St. Patrick’s Day and he did not really intend to rob the store.
He is jailed on $25,000 bond and does not have legal representation.
