Georgia grandmother Laurie Morgan, 57, was arrested early Wednesday morning after having allegedly held her infant grandson hostage for five hours.
A SWAT team was called to intervene when a Georgia newborn was held hostage by his grandmother.

Gwinnett County grandmother Laurie Morgan, 57, was arrested early Wednesday morning after having allegedly held her infant grandson hostage for five hours.
According to KFVS, cops arrived on the scene around 3:00 a.m. when Morgan had gotten into an argument with her daughter's boyfriend. Morgan and the 4-week old infant were reported to be alone in the apartment at the time.
Neighbor Krystal Rose told WGCL she was awakened by the police intercom attempting to communicate with Morgan, who allegedly had a gun.
"At one point while our officers were here, she was holding the baby," Corporal Michele Pihera from the Gwinnett County Police Department told WGCL. "[Morgan] came outside and fired at least one round outside."
Though no one was hurt, officers called in the SWAT team to intervene.
A neighbor Jayjuan Davis told KFVS that the tactical unit had knocked on their door: "They needed to use our apartment to scope their building, so we let them in and let them do what they needed to do."
Hours later, the SWAT team finally made their way inside Morgan's home. Morgan was reportedly asleep before she was taken into custody at around 8:30 a.m.
Cpl. Pihera said in an interview that the team "positioned themselves between the baby and the grandmother, took her into custody and at the same time scooped up the baby to quickly get him out of that situation."

"It was surprising because the fact that I know them," Rose said, according to WGCL, "and I wouldn't think that she would do anything like this."
Morgan is currently being held at Gwinnett County Detention Center on charges of reckless conduct and aggravated assault. She will likely have her first court appearance on Thursday.
