Prince's Remains Have Already Been Cremated in Small Private Ceremony

The music icon's life was celebrated in a small ceremony on Saturday, according to Prince's publicist.
Prince's remains have already been cremated and a small, private memorial service held by those closest to the notoriously private pop music icon.
Yvette Noel-Schure gave no further information about where or when the cremation occurred, nor did she reveal where the ashes would be placed.
The private memorial service was held Saturday at his Paisley Park compound in Chanhassen, Minnesota.

"A few hours ago, Prince was celebrated by a small group of his most beloved: family, friends and his musicians, in a private, beautiful ceremony to say a loving goodbye," Noel-Schure said in a statement on Saturday evening.
"Prince's remains have been cremated and their final storage will remain private. We ask for your blessings and prayers of comfort for his family and close friends at this time.
The brief statement also served as a notice to those eager to know exactly how the 57-year-old died.
"The cause of death remains unknown and it will be at least four weeks before we receive the results of the autopsy. An announcement will be made at a future date for a musical celebration," it said.

Prince was found unresponsive Thursday morning in the elevator in his elevator. He was alone at the time.
Reports suggest that Prince may have overdosed on the painkiller Percocet. The drug contains acetaminophen and oxycodone, an opioid, and is known to be highly addictive.
According to TMZ, Prince was taking the painkillers for a hip problem. The singer had hip surgery in 2010.
