Man Arrested After Threatening to Bomb Trump Rally at Connecticut High School: Cops
Connecticut State Police say 20-year-old Sean Morkys of Waterbury threatened to bomb a Trump rally scheduled to be held in a high school.
A Connecticut man was arrested over the weekend after allegedly tweeting out a bomb threat during a Trump rally.
The Connecticut State Police say the Secret Service alerted them Saturday to a threat posted to Twitter by 20-year-old Sean Morkys regarding the rally held in a Bridgport high school.
"Is someone going to bomb the trump rally or am I going to have to?" the tweet, which can no longer be seen on Twitter, allegedly read.
According to police, the tweet was followed by another warning a friend to have his family members leave the rally so they wouldn't get hurt.
Authorities say they tracked the tweet to a home in the city of Waterbury, where they determined Morkys was not a threat.
Morkys was taken into custody and charged with Threatening 1st Degree, Inciting Injury to a Person or Property, and Breach of Peace 2nd Degree, police said.
He was released on $25,000 bond and is expected back in court May 4.
The Trump rally went on without incident, however the Trump camp has had some of what it feared were close calls in the past.
Enough of them, in fact, that Trump reportedly began wearing a bullet-proof vest to his appearances.
The revelation comes from a New York magazine cover story, headlined "Operation Trump: Inside The Most Unorthodox Campaign in Political History.”
The article says the bulky vest is the reason Trump is "sweaty and spent after events."
Concern over Trump's personal safety was fueled by security scares, including an incident in March when a protester stormed the stage in Ohio.
