Convicted Baby Killer Who Escaped Prison is Captured After Nearly a Week On the Run
Arthur Bucknel, who previously served 14 years for slapping his girlfriend's 10-month-old baby to death, was apprehended along the Garden State Parkway.
The convicted killer who escaped a New Jersey Prison was captured Monday after nearly a week on the run, officials said.
Arthur Bucknel, who previously served 14 years for slapping his girlfriend’s 10-month-old baby to death, was apprehended along the Garden State Parkway, the Ocean County Sheriff’s Office posted on Facebook.
The 38-year-old inmate was serving time for aggravated assault, drug possession and burglary when he busted out of Bayside State Prison’s satellite unit at Ancora Hospital in Hammonton last Tuesday, authorities said.
After making his escape, Bucknel was spotted at a CVS about 50 miles northeast from the prison buying food and gum. Police later found a truck in the pharmacy’s parking lot that they believed he had been driving.
He was also caught on surveillance footage at a rest stop along the Garden State Parkway at 9:50 p.m. Sunday, about 10 miles from the CVS at which he was seen.
Bucknel was scheduled to be paroled on May 21, but could face three to five years in prison for escaping.
