Drunk Pregnant Woman Caused Deadly DUI Crash: Cops

Candice Ooley of Clovis, California, has been charged with felony DUI and vehicular manslaughter after a crash that killed one and injured three.

A pregnant California woman has been charged following a drunk driving crash that left a man dead.

Candice Ooley of Clovis faces felony DUI and vehicular manslaughter charges in the Friday night highway crash. The California Highway Patrol says the wreck occurred because Ooley was "highly intoxicated."

Ooley, 23, is reportedly six months pregnant.

The tragedy occurred Friday before 10 p.m. when authorities say Ooley crashed her Chevy Cruze into the back of a Hummer H3 on Highway 41, KFSN reports.

The force of the collision caused the SUV to swerve off the road and down an embankment, officials said.

One of three passengers in the Hummer, 47-year-old Frederico Nunez Silva, died at the scene.

The other two passengers were taken to a hospital by ambulance. The driver was airlifted out of the area.

All the victims were trapped in the SUV for an hour before rescuers could get them out.

Ooley, whose license was suspended from a prior DUI, was evaluated at an area hospital before she was arrested.

Ooley's bond was set at $151,900.
