INSIDE EDITION reports from backstage at the Golden Globe nominations as Hollywood's awards season kicks into high gear.
Finally, some great news for Michael Douglas. He is nominated for a Golden Globe for his role in Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps! It's a wonderful triumph for the beloved star, who is battling stage four throat cancer.
"To be selected with these extraordinary nominees is an honor," Douglas said in a statement. "And boy was I ready for some good news!"
Douglas joins the slew of Hollywood's brightest stars who woke up to a Golden day.
Natalie Portman was nominated for Black Swan. Jake Gyllenhall was nominated for Love and Other Drugs and Halle Berry was nominated for Frankie and Alice.
Best actor nominee Johnny Depp is facing some tough competition...from himself! Depp is nominated for Alice in Wonderland and The Tourist.
"Often times, if an actor is nominated twice, it's in different categories. I hope he doesn't cancel himself out," said Blair Underwood.
Blaire Underwood, star of NBC's The Event, along with Josh Duhmel and Katie Holmes, was up super early in the morning to announce the nominations.
And another surprise—two of the Golden Globe nominees are hosting the Academy Awards®. James Franco is nominated for 127 Hours and Anne Hathawy is nominated for Love and Other Drugs.
Tom O'Neil of the Los Angeles Times said, "The Globes just validated the Oscars® choice for best hosts."
Mark Wahlberg, Amy Adams and Christian Bale were all recognized for their roles in The Fighter. The movie garnered 6 Golden Globe nods in total, as did The Social Network.
But The King's Speech, starring Colin Firth, reigned supreme, leading the pack with 7 nominations.
The Golden Globes will be handed out on Sunday, January 16th.
