Fans, Players Show Their Support for Loved Ones With Cancer at Baseball All-Star Game
Singer Rachel Platten sang her anthem 'Fight Song' to inspire the crowd.
There was a moving moment during the MLB All-Star game Tuesday night when singer Rachel Platten sang her anthem “Fight Song" dedicated to those battling cancer in San Diego.
As Platten performed, fans and players alike stood holding cards with the names of someone they know who is fighting cancer.
Major League Baseball teamed up with Stand Up to Cancer for the touching tribute inside Petco Park.
Platten, who sang the song during the 5th inning of the game between the American League and National League’s best, told MLB.com the experience was “so electric. There was so much energy.”
Baseball Commissioner Rob Manfred said: “Stand Up To Cancer is an A-plus organization, not only in terms of its mission, how important it is that we find a cure for cancer, but also their execution. They have a very unique philosophy about how research should be conducted. It's one that makes a lot of sense to me and a lot of people, and I think they've done tremendous work."
