Davila and Scanlan then approached Vang and told him to take a seat. At that point, authorities say Vang pulled a handgun out of his clothing and shot both officers.
The officers were shot in the head and neck areas. Davila is in critical, but stable, condition and Scanlan is in critical condition.
A responding correctional officer fired shots at Vang, who allegedly Vang shots. However, no one else was struck.
At some point, officers used a Taser on Vang, but they were still unable to get him to surrender, according to the statement.
