Alec Baldwin Steals the Show as Donald Trump During SNL's Season Premiere
The Republican candidate was skewered for his debate performance, as Baldwin continuously sniffled and accused his opponent of breaking his microphone.
Saturday Night Live opened its 42nd season with what many are calling a spot-on impression of Donald Trump by 16-time SNL host Alec Baldwin, who stole the show as the presidential hopeful.
In the show’s much-talked about cold open, Baldwin’s Trump faced off against Kate McKinnon’s Hillary Clinton for a debate moderated by Michael Che’s Lester Holt.
“Our jobs are fleeing this country, they’re going to Mexico, they’re going to China (which he pronounced ‘Jy-na’) … If Hillary knew how, she would have done it already. Period. End of story. I won the debate. I stayed calm, just like I promised. It is over. Goodnight, Hofstra,” he said at the start of the almost 10-minute sketch.

The Republican candidate was skewered for his debate performance last week, as Baldwin continuously sniffled and accused his opponent of breaking his microphone.
“Secretary Clinton, what do you think of that?” Che’s Holt asked.
“I think I’m going to be president,” McKinnon’s Clinton said.
The show also touched on the controversy surrounding Trump's taxes and his alleged treatment of former Miss Universe Alicia Machado to get big laughs Saturday night.

“Lester, why are we talking about this woman? We should be talking about the important issues like Rosie O’Donnell and how she’s a fat loser and everyone agrees with me and I just wanted to bring that up in a presidential debate right at the end, my own volition. Good idea. I did it,” Baldwin ranted.
Baldwin was tapped to play Trump after his 30 Rock co-star Tina Fey made the suggestion to SNL’s executive producer Lorne Michaels.
“She said, 'You know who would be a great Trump is Alec!'" Michaels told USA Today. "People on the show liked it, and I thought he'd be great with Kate [McKinnon, who plays Clinton]."
Baldwin is reportedly slated to play the real estate mogul for several episodes throughout the season.
