After North Carolina GOP Office is Firebombed, Trump Blames Pro-Clinton 'Animals'

Someone also spray-painted "Nazi Republicans" on the Hillsborough office.

A GOP campaign office in North Carolina was firebombed over the weekend and Donald Trump is pointing the finger at Clinton supporters.

Police say an arsonist threw a Molotov cocktail through a window of the office in HiIlsborough overnight Saturday or early Sunday. Outside the building, a swastika was spray-painted with the message: "Nazi Republicans leave town or else."

"Animals representing Hillary Clinton and Dems in North Carolina just firebombed our office in Orange County because we are winning," the Republican candidate for president tweeted Sunday evening.

Furniture inside the office was badly burned and much of the building’s interior was damaged before the fire went out, according to a statement from the Town of Hillsborough.

"Whether you are Republican, Democrat, or Independent, all Americans should be outraged by this hate-filled and violent attack against our democracy," Dallas Woodhouse, executive director of the North Carolina Republican Party, said in a statement.

Woodhouse continued: "Whether the bomb was meant to kill, destroy property, or intimidate voters, everyone in this country should be free to express their political viewpoints without fear for their own safety. We will be requesting additional security at all Republican Party offices and events between now and Election Day to ensure the safety of our activists, volunteers, and supporters."

Woodhouse went on to call the attack a "hate crime."

In a second tweet, Trump gave his support to those affected. "With you all the way, will never forget. Now we have to win. Proud of you all!"

Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton also responded on Twitter. "The attack on the Orange County HQ office is horrific and unacceptable. Very grateful that everyone is safe," the tweet read.

Hillsborough police are continuing to investigate the incident with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
