4-Year-Old Dressed as Military Father Gets the Ultimate Halloween Surprise
It was both tricks and treats for Jayden Hayes, 4, when he was surprised by his dad's homecoming while dressed as his military dad for Halloween.
It was both tricks and treats for this Florida boy when, as he was attending a Halloween party dressed as his deployed military father, he was surprised by the man's early homecoming.
Jayden Hayes, 4, of Gainesville was clad in his U.S. Army Halloween costume, inspired by his dad, when suddenly, his hero appeared at the party with the best treat of all — himself, in the flesh.
"He hasn't seen his dad in months," his mom, Kavasia Hayes, told InsideEdition.com.
Jermaine Hayes, who is a staff sergeant for the Air Force, has been serving for 16 years. As a part of the International Guard, Jermaine was deployed to Iraq, where he's been for the last eight months.
Kavasia said this was the second time her husband was away, but the first time in their son's life. She was pregnant with Jayden the first time her husband was deployed.
"This time was actually harder," she said.
For months, little Jayden asked where his father was, and when he was going to be home.
"We always tell him he's at work, and he'd kind of back off from it," Kavasia said. "He has those little moments where he gets upset. As far as trying to fill that void at the house, it's been a whirlwind."
Knowing her husband would return around Halloween, she started looking up events they could all go to together, and discovered a family-friendly Halloween party on Sorority Row.

When she reached out, the organization took over, and decided to help her organize a surprise for her little boy.
"They went over and beyond," Kavasia said. "We were shocked too."
Now, Jayden looks forward to going trick-or-treating with his father, this time, dressed as Nemo.
