Cher Reacts to Election Result, Says It's Like a 'Death in My Family'

She was not the only celeb to discuss her disbelief.

As the mood quickly shifted from joyous anticipation to morose defeat at Manhattan’s Javits Center, some of Hillary Clinton's celeb supporters expressed their disbelief as Donald Trump became the president-elect.

Cher, who was at the official Clinton election viewing party, told Inside Edition: "I am shocked... I feel like there has been a death in my family."

As she left the Javits Center, Working Girl actress Melanie Griffith told Inside Edition: "I am staying positive. Hillary is my woman."

Many of the same celebrities who fought for a Clinton victory used social media to convey their devastation.

Captain America star Chris Evans took to Twitter to express his disbelief.

This is an embarrassing night for America. We've let a hatemonger lead our great nation. We've let a bully set our course. I'm devastated.

Actor Stephen Baldwin, who was at the last presidential debate, and whose brother, Alec, has been parodying Trump on Saturday Night Live, tweeted that he was “proud to have been part of such amazing history.”
