Police Find Woman Passed Out in Stolen Car With Her Baby in Her Lap: Cops

There were also drugs in the car, police said.

Police arrested a Florida mom after they allegedly found her passed out in a stolen car full of heroin and syringes with her child in her lap.

Amanda Ray, 29, was charged with grand theft auto, child neglect, and drug possession.

Police responded to the scene Tuesday on a report that a woman was asleep with an infant in her lap and when they arrived they woke her and ran her license plate, which uncovered that the vehicle she was in was reported stolen from Kentucky.

According to police, they found heroin after their car search as well as several unused and uncapped syringes and drug paraphernalia.

One of the syringes was puncturing a blue pacifier, the document stated. The stolen vehicle was also reportedly littered with soiled diapers, garbage, and spoiled milk.

The woman's grandfather, Pete Decker, told the station Fox 30 his granddaughter had been to rehab but had gone back to using drugs. 

Ray’s child was reportedly released into the custody of a family member and she was booked on $11,000 bond.
