Crowd Boos as Kanye West Says He Didn't Vote But Would've Picked Trump
West was also an outspoken Ben Carson supporter during the campaign.
Kanye West shocked many of his fans at a concert Thursday night when he revealed that he would have voted for Donald Trump.
“I told y’all I didn’t vote, right?” West said to the crowd in San Jose’s SAP Center. “But if I would have voted, I would have voted for Trump.”
After being met with a chorus of boos from the audience, he heard one fan clapping. The “Gold Digger” rapper said he loved Trump’s debate style and how he forced racists of America “to reveal themselves” to the public.
He also repeated his intentions to run for office in 2020, a vow he first made during the MTV VMAs in 2015.
This year, he supported Dr. Ben Carson before he dropped out of the race.
In September 2015, West told Vanity Fair: “As soon as I heard [Ben] Carson speak, I tried for three weeks to get on the phone with him. I was like this is the most brilliant guy.”
