Florence Henderson, Who Played Carol Brady on 'The Brady Bunch,' Dead at 82

Born on Valentine's Day in 1934, the Indiana native started on stage in "Oklahoma!" and "The King and I" before landing her most famous role.

Florence Henderson, the beloved TV matriarch who graced screens for several years on The Brady Bunch has died. She was 82.

Henderson was rushed to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles Wednesday, and died the following day, her publicist David Brokaw told the Associated Press.

Her cause of death was listed as heart failure.

Born on Valentine’s Day in 1934, the Dale, Indiana, native got her start on stage in productions like Oklahoma and The King and I before landing her famed role as Carol Brady from 1969-1974.

Henderson is the only cast member of the 70s sitcom to appear in all of its 117 episodes. She also reprised the role in several TV specials.

Some of Henderson’s former co-stars took to Twitter to share their grief over her passing.

“Deeply saddened,” Barry Williams, who played Greg Brady, tweeted Friday morning. “Florence was one of the most gracious people I have ever known. Proud to call her Mom and life long friend.”

Maureen McCormick, who played Marcia Brady and recently appeared on Dancing With the Stars, shared a photo of herself with Henderson, saying: “You are in my heart forever Florence.”

Aside from her most notable character, Henderson appeared in The Love Boat, Murder She Wrote and Fantasy Island, and as herself on shows like 30 Rock and Roseanne

In 2010, she appeared on Dancing With the Stars, partnered with Corky Ballas. With her death Thursday, Henderson is the first deceased castmember in the show's history. 

She also returned to the Brady universe as the family’s grandmother on 1995’s The Brady Bunch Movie, a quirky spoof of the original program.
