Natalie Portman Denounces Dior Designer John Galliano for Anti-Semitic Remarks
Oscar®-winner Natalie Portman, the face of Miss Dior Cherie perfume, spoke out against Christian Dior chief designer John Galliano after video of him making anti-Semitic remarks surfaced INSIDE EDITION reports.
Oscar®-winner Natalie Portman is lashing out at famed Christian Dior chief designer John Galliano after a disturbing video surfaced showing the fashion guru on an anti-Semitic tirade
"I am deeply shocked and disgusted by the video of John Galliano's comments," Portman said in a statement.
Galliano appears intoxicated in the video and goes on a shocking rant while talking to two women at a bar in Paris.
"I love Hitler," Galliano said. He told the women, "People like you would be dead today. Your mothers, your forefathers, would all be ------- gassed."
The video was shot in January, but just came to light following Galliano's arrest last week for spouting anti-Semitic insults at the same bar.
Galliano worked as head designer of Dior for 15 years. A-listers sat front row at his fashion shows and he created memorable gowns for Hollywood's hottest stars. He was a friend and favorite of Portman, who reportedly considered wearing one of his designs to the Academy Awards®. Instead she wore a Rodarte gown
Dior announced today that the disgraced designer has been fired. And the Oscar®-winning star wants nothing to do with him.
"As an individual who is proud to be Jewish," Portman writes, "I will not be associated with Mr. Galliano in anyway."
In response, Galliano said, "I'm no racist."
