Mariah Carey Says She Was 'Mortified' by New Year's Eve Fail on Live TV

The “Emotions” singer pointed the finger squarely at Dick Clark Productions, who coordinated the event for ABC.
"Dick Clark was an incredible person" she told Entertainment Weekly. "I’m of the opinion that Dick Clark would not have let an artist go through that and he would have been as mortified as I was."
She added: "it's not going to stop me from doing a live event in the future but it will make me less trusting of using anyone outside of my own team."
Dick Clark Productions released a statement Tuesday saying any suggestion that Carey was sabotaged is "defamatory, outrageous and frankly absurd."
Jenny McCarthy, who co-hosted New Year's Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest, hit back at Carey on her SiriusXM radio show.
“It was so bad. I felt really bad for her, because it was that bad, it was a complete train wreck,” McCarthy said. “I was like, you know what, I have sympathy for her. My sympathy stopped, however, the moment she accused Dick Clark Productions of sabotaging her performance."
The former Singled Out co-host added: “For her to defame them was so incredibly insulting for the group of people who work their balls off preparing and rehearsing for their musical guests. The truth of the matter is Mariah didn't do a sound check. They didn't sabotage you. You sabotaged you!”
Carey, who will hit the road with Lionel Richie this year, also told Entertainment Weekly: "My true fans have been so supportive and I am so appreciative of them and everybody in the media that came out to support me after the fact because it really was an incredible holiday season that turned into a horrible New Year’s Eve."
