Bodycam Footage Released From Woman's Arrest That Led To Cop's Suspension

Officer William Martin appears to wrestle the mother and her daughter to the ground and use his foot to shove a 15-year-old girl into his cruiser.

Disturbing bodycam footage has been released of the arrest of a Texas mother and her teen daughters by a cop who was later disciplined for using unnecessary force.

In the video taken last month, Fort Worth Officer William Martin responds to a call made by Jacqueline Craig, who claimed a neighbor choked her 7-year-old son who allegedly littered in his yard.

However, the tables appear to turn as an argument ensues between Craig and the officer after which things turn physical.

In the bodycam footage, which was reportedly leaked to lawyers for Craig's family after cell phone video of the arrest first emerged, the officer appears to wrestle Craig and her daughter to the ground and also use his foot to push a 15-year-old girl into a police car.

Craig and her 19-year-old daughter, Brea Hymond, initially faced charges, including resisting arrest.

However, officials in Fort Worth announced Thursday that those charges would be dropped.

"We have consulted with the district attorney's office and we have decided to withdraw all matters related to the arrest of Ms. Jacqueline Craig, and Ms. Brea Hymond," Fort Worth police said in a statement.

However, it was not clear whether charges were being pursued against the 15-year-old, who was not identified.

Officials did say they've decided to discipline Martin for his actions.

"Officer Martin has been disciplined with a ten-day suspension with no pay, and Chief Fitzgerald will not be returning him to his original assignment in the Rock Garden neighborhood at this time. Officer Martin has chosen to exercise his right to appeal this disciplinary action and a hearing will be set for a later date," the statement said.

Meanwhile, the neighbor on whom Craig originally called police, Itamar Vardi, has been issued a citation for assault by contact.

In a press conference held following the announcements, an attorney for Craig's family said Martin's punishment doesn't go far enough and called for his firing.

The attorney also demanded that Vardi be charged with felony assault.
