Teen Allegedly Decapitates Mother, Carries Her Head Onto Front Lawn: Cops

Oliver Mauricio Funes Machada allegedly called 911 claiming to have killed his mother, police said.
A North Carolina teen was arrested for allegedly decapitating his own mother with his two young siblings in the home before carrying the dead woman’s head to their front lawn in what authorities have described as a "gruesome scene."
Police responding to a 911 call from a man claiming to have killed his mother found Oliver Mauricio Funes Machada, 18, standing outside his Zebulon home at about 12:45 p.m. Monday, the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office told InsideEdition.com.

In one hand, Machada held a large butcher knife. In the other, the severed head of his mother, 35-year-old Yesenia Funez Beatriz Machado, cops said.
It was unclear how many times Machado was stabbed, authorities said.
His two toddler siblings were in the home at the time of the alleged killing, but were not harmed, officials said.
A third sibling was at school at the time of the incident.
“It was a gruesome scene,” Sheriff Kent Winstead told reporters.

Machada was taken into custody without incident.
He was charged with first-degree murder and is being held at the Franklin County Detention Center without bond.
Machada has spoken with detectives, but details from the interview will not be released, police said.
Machada's attorney, C. Boyd Sturges, told InsideEdition.com that he has spoken with his client, who he believes has "some serious mental health issues."
"That is my opinion... he has unfortunately suffered from some pretty serious demons," Sturges said.
Machada has no prior arrests, authorities said.
