Boy, 9, Who Weighed Less Than 15 Pounds When He Died of Starvation Had Meth in System: Autopsy
Little Cameron Hoopingarner, who suffered from cerebral palsy, was emaciated, blind, unable to speak when he died in February.
A 9-year-old boy weighing less than 15 pounds had methamphetamine in his system when he starved to death last month, an autopsy found.
Little Cameron Hoopingarner, who suffered from cerebral palsy, was emaciated, blind and unable to speak when he was rushed to an Indiana hospital and pronounced dead in February, officials said.
An autopsy by forensic pathologist Dr. Roland Kohr determined the child died of starvation.
"This child is so severely malnourished that the closest thing I can think of are the pictures from World War II concentration camps liberation,” Kohr told WTHI-TV.

His death was ruled a homicide.
Cameron’s guardians since just after his birth, Hubert Kraemer, 56, and Robin Lee Kraemer, 53, were charged with neglect of a dependent resulting in death and neglect of a dependent. If convicted of the first charge, they could each face up to 40 years in prison.
Their son, Chad Allen Kraemer, 33, and his girlfriend Sarah Beth Travioli, 30, were charged with neglect of a dependent resulting in death, neglect of a dependent and failure to report child neglect.

All four now face additional drug-related charges, which prosecutors filed on Monday after test results came back positive for meth, WTHI-TV reported.
The drug apparently entered the boy’s system as it was used by the people who "were supposed to be caring for him," Kohr told The Tribune-Star.
