American Killed in London Was Traveling Around Europe to Celebrate His 25th Wedding Anniversary
Kurt Cochran's wife was also injured in the attack.
The Utah man killed in London’s terror attack was on a dream vacation with his wife to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary, according to social media.
Kurt and Melissa Cochran had been traveling in Germany and Scotland and were in London Wednesday, strolling the Westminster Bridge in front of Parliament, when they were struck on the sidewalk by a speeding SUV.
“Our family is heartbroken to learn of the death of our son-in-law, Kurt W. Cochran, who was a victim of Wednesday’s terrorist attack in London,” Melissa’s brother, Clinton Payne, said in a statement.
“Kurt was a good man and a loving husband to our daughter and sister, Melissa,” he said.
The couple was hurled over the bridge after being struck by the vehicle allegedly driven by Khalid Masood, 52, a British-born man previously investigated for “violent extremism,” officials said.
Melissa Cochran was seriously injured in the fall, sustaining a broken leg among other problems. She remains hospitalized.

President Trump called Kurt “a great American” in a Twitter post, saying, “My prayers and conlences are with his family and friends.”
Trump’s son, Donald Trump. Jr., ignited a social media fracas Wednesday after tweeting a response to London Mayor Sadiq Khan’s statement that terror attacks were “part and parcel” of dwelling in a metropolis.
“You have to be kidding me?!,” the younger Trump said. “Terror attacks are part of living in a big city, says London Mayor Sadiq Khan.”
