Police said the suspect knocked on the door, telling the boy's 32-year-old mom that he needed to go to the bathroom.
A New York boy has been hailed a hero after cops say he stabbed a home invader who was attacking his mother.
Cops say the home invasion occurred Tuesday in the Bronx when the suspect knocked on the door of the victims' home and asked the mother to use the restroom.

When the mother refused, cops say 22-year-old Brian Febus kicked his way inside the door and entered the home.
The mother ran with her 11- and 4-year-old children to the kitchen, where she grabbed a kitchen knife to defend herself, the New York Post reported.
However, Febus allegedly snatched the knife away from the woman, cutting her in the process, before hitting her in the face.
When the 11-year-old attempted to call 911, cops say the intruder grabbed him.
After he was let go, police say the boy grabbed another knife and stabbed the intruder in the back, causing him to flee.

Coincidentally, both the victims and the suspect reportedly ran to the same Bronx hospital, where cops eventually put the two accounts together and fingered Febus as the alleged intruder.
Febus was later charged with felony assault and burglary.
