Beranton J. Whisenant Jr. possibly suffered head trauma.
A federal prosecutor has been found dead on a Florida beach this week.
The body of Beranton J. Whisenant Jr. was discovered on a beach in the city of Hollywood, according to authorities who believe the 37-year-old suffered head trauma.
Police are investigating the case as a crime, according to the Miami Herald, which reported that Whisenant may have died of a gunshot wound.
His body was discovered by passersby on Wednesday.
Detectives arrived and are now working to determine if foul play was involved in his death, though no arrests have been made.
Whisenant had worked for the Miami U.S. Attorney's Office major crimes unit since January on visa and passport fraud cases.
