Cops Investigating as Actress and Former Beauty Queen Found Dead in Apartment

The lifeless body of Margaret Ann Garza, 31, was discovered Tuesday at her Texas home, police said.

Police are investigating the death of a Texas actress and former beauty queen who was found dead in her home this week, officials said.

Margaret Ann Garza, 31, was discovered Tuesday at her apartment on the 1800 block of Mathers Mill Trail, the Round Rock Police Department said.

After she was discovered not breathing, emergency responders were called to Garza’s home, but they were unable to save the young woman, authorities said.

It was not immediately clear how Garza died. An autopsy is pending and the death is under investigation, police said.

Garza worked in television and film after having successfully competed in the Texas Belleza Latina pageant, which was founded to create Hispanic role models on a local and national level.

She was crowned Miss Texas Belleza Latina in 2007 before going on to win the title of Miss Belleza Latina International in 2008.

“Margaret dared to dream big. She did things most people only aspire to. She loved pageantry, singing, acting and modeling,” her obituary read.

Garza appeared in ads, appeared on television, including on AMC’s The Son, and in films such as Mercury Plains, starring Scott Eastwood.

She was also in the movie Pizza Joint, which is set to premiere later this month.

“She was the epitome of love, and she was so very loved by all,” her obituary read. “Besides God, her family and close friends were always first.”

Garza had a passion for nature, horseback riding, shooting guns and the country lifestyle, which she proudly inherited from her father, as well as a joy for cooking and a reverence for respecting others, traits she took on from her mom, the epitaph said.

She graduated from Texas A&M International University with a degree in interdisciplinary studies and had recently obtained her broker’s insurance license.

“She was a driven, motivated and dedicated professional who believed in self-discipline and hard work... Margaret enjoyed the simple things in life and knew their worth. Everything big and small was worth its weight in gold to her. She was beauty without presumption, intelligence with humility, and unyielding perseverance without rest.

“Margaret touched our hearts, empowered us, and inspired many people,” the obituary continued. “She was a ‘Once in a Lifetime Kind of Woman’ who left us too soon.”

A vigil for Garza will be held Friday and her funeral will be held Saturday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church.
